This should wake you up
Me being a major fan of the second Amityville film, when I first saw a trailer for this movie I could not wait to see it. Then the release dates were mixed up because the first trailer said it would be released January 2015, then it was pushed until April 2016, then January of 2017 then was finally released in June of 2017. Unfortunately, it had a silent release into Google Play, then had a week-long showing in select theatre in New York. So, I thought seeing this film would never happen, except for maybe streaming it on some website. Then, one day I came across it while looking for a movie to rent in one of those Redbox machines at the store. My dreams of wanting to see the film had come true. I just hoped and prayed it would live up to my expectations. I am glad to say, for me, I enjoyed the film.
It revolves around a new family moving into the house of horrors, a single mother with her three children: seventeen-year-old Belle, her twin brother James (who is in a comatose state), and their seven-year-old sister Juliet. Unaware of what occurred in the house’s history Belle begins to experience terrifying things then realize the house is using James as its’ new vessel for murder. Though this is another underrated Amityville movie, with a low rating, if you are a fan of horror movies and have watched the other Amityville films it is definitely worth watching. It is rare that a movie scares me because I am experienced when it comes to viewing horror films, but this one terrified me. I was afraid to walk into my kitchen because I had to walk down a long scary hallway. For a movie to frighten me like that it did something right. I am not saying it was an amazing movie because there were moments where I became lost between reality and hallucinations. Though that may have been the point because that is what the house does to you, you can no longer tell what is real.
The effects were more realistic in this movie. Since the 20055 version was made so long ago it did not appear very well, effects wise. In this film the main demon was so real, it was almost too real.

Lol I saw the picture as Voldemort, but anyways....
ReplyDeleteI think your feedback on the movie is good—you pointed out the hallucinations that confused you(which is a point for many horror movies) and I like how you gave a bit of background on how you got the movie to make it relatable to the reader. Nice job 👍
Woah, I’m normally not a fan of horror movies but this seems intriguing. Amityville makes the town sound like its full of love and friendship, and I love how ironic the name is. It’s always great to see someone praising a follow-up movie because most people are too caught up in the original. That picture definitely scared me for a second, but hey, it’s all for the thrill right?
