Can you put the pieces together?
So I know I usually post scary story reviews on the weekends, but I actually wrote this blog in October, and just forgot to post it. Since I saw this film I still feel I should post this review because better late than never. Sorry that it is kind of out of place, but if you haven't seen Jigsaw yet this can help you decide if you should or not.
The Saw franchise took seven years to complete, with a total count of seven gloriously gruesome movies. Everyone thought when the final movie came out in 2010 that was the end of the Jigsaw killer. But he is back in the new movie Jigsaw that was released October 27, 2017. The movie is a horrific mystery that follows a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own? Directors Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig capture the horror of all the past Saw films but keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out who is behind these murders. Trust me you will be shocked by the truth behind the murders, I definitely was.
This movie takes a lot to put the pieces together *pun intended* It is a murder mystery that if you figure out who the killer is kudos to you. This movie was so intense I couldn’t close my eyes once; even during the gory parts. For those people who see these movies for the contraptions and blood trust me you will not be disappointed. The parts you see in the trailers that seem intriguing they don’t disappoint in the film. Could you imagine being stuck in grain and having sharp objects fall less than an inch from your face? I can’t. The others traps will make you cringe, and want to close your eyes, but somehow you just can’t. It seriously does take certain types of people to be able to see these movies, and even make them, but the mystery combined with the contraptions makes for an amazing horror film. My mom thinks I’m completely insane for being able to watch a movie like this, but considering the theatre was full when I saw it I’m not alone in that aspect.
So, if you can stomach a movie that shows people being tortured and basically shredded you should see the eighth movie of the Saw franchise. There is more to it than just people fighting for their lives, it has a puzzle that takes skill to put the pieces together.
